Introduction :
The alloys of aluminium and silicon are well known and have been consistently used for many years because of their good mechanical properties. In the case of sand castings, satisfactory mechanical properties are achieved only when the alloy is "modified" prior to castings. Modifier is mainly used in making or casting aluminium alloys such as LM-6, LM-9, LM-25 etc.
Description :
Modifier A is available in dark blue powder form.
Quality To Be Use :
500 grams to 1000 grams ( 1 Kg ) per 100 kg. of melt.
Method Of Use :
The melt having been degassed, its temperature is raised to 720 - 750 C and appropriate quantity of Modifire is added. The melt is then stirred and allowed to stand for few minutes before being cast at the correct temperature. Modifier A should be properly mixed with aluminium alloys and proper holding time should be given to the melt to achieve greater modification.
Precautions :
CKCO FLUXES should not be allowed to be exposed to the atmosphere when not in use.
