CHARACTERISTICS AND SALIENT FEATURES
Low Air Pressure burners are basically intended to withstand rough handling for easy operation and maintenance
The burner works on the principle of the fuel oil mixing with air inside the burner and being atomised at the same time by low pressure air. Furnace temperature and flame are adjustable and easy to control at the turn of a knob.
These burners provide efficient combustion on all ratios from very lean to very rich mixtures and also a high CO2 content in the fuel gases. They have been used extensively in Boilers. Industrial Furnaces Ovens, Kilns etc. and have given excellent service.
The oil is supplied to the burner either by a pump or by gravity feed system at a pressure of 0.55 - 0.85 Kg/Cm2g (i.e. 8-12 Ibs per sq. inch). The atomising air is provided by a centrifugal air blower at pressure of 500-750 mm w.g. (i.e. 20" - 3D"w.g.)
Most classes of liquid fuels can be used. However heavy oils e.g. furnace oil require to be preheated to bring down the viscocity for proper atomization of the fuel. The viscocity of furnace oil should be around 80-100 sees, Red wood No. 1 at the burner.
OPERATION :
The output of burner is adjusted by opening or closing oil regulating hand wheel. Corresponding adjustments are then made on the air valve. The length of the flame can be easily adjusted by means of the swirler flap provided in the burner.
CONSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES :
1. The body is made of close grained cast iron and is capable of withstanding hocks and despite its sturdy construction the weight is less.
2. The atomizing head is stationery and is capable of being removed from the Burner without necessity of any disconnection in the air piping.
3.The internal parts are precision machined.
4. Provision is made in the burner for a substantial area of flow for both oil and air so that there is the least possible resistance because of its stream lined design.This also avoids clogging and minimise carbon built up.
